Its been 5 years since you wrote this and it looks like you have made great progress with your "new job", I found you on Diet Doctors. I love that site and know they find value in your work to include you in their offerings.
I do not listen to doctors. I have never found one that I trust or even like. They all want to push pills instead of working with you to find the reasons for your health problems, and yeah, even give crappy advice (standard American diet) and talk to you like you're stupid and lazy.
I am going to email you and hopefully we can work together. I have health problems I must improve on and I hope you can help me. Try to tell them about the merits of the Paleo/Primal way of doing things, but they do not want to stray from their mainstream recommended healthy diet. Interesting when the roles are reversed in life, as many kids do not listen to their parents' advice when they are younger, so why should parents listen to their kids later in life?

Ditto for all the comments above, and ditto on the ISTJ. Seeing a nutritionist is on my to do list, but suspect that many are mainstream, and I may know more than they do. : ) or not... Too bad you're not closer. I must say that tried out a naturapath, who was more helpful and attentive to my ailments than my family doctor, and helped in getting past some conditions. Here's to the non-doctors in health.

Keep motivated, and find different ways to market yourself to make this your full-time job.

Cheers,

J.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4833628955058077617.post-31743078952695485742014-09-28T10:00:08.085-04:002014-09-28T10:00:08.085-04:00Will do! Their father is a cardiologist, so I was still immersed in that world and subscribed to the medical community's nutrition recommendations of a low fat, low calorie, whole grain diet. About two years ago, the realization hit that, despite all the "advances" in medicine, the incidences of cancer, heart disease and autoimmune diseases continued to increase. We were killing ourselves and most physicians were only there to prescribe a pill for what ailed you. Luckily I was introduced the company I am now partnered with, and more recently discovered your blog, and the combination of the two has helped me achieve the best health I think I've ever had (and that at the age of 50!) Plus, I get to enjoy eating again (crispy chicken skin...YUM!) I really enjoy your writing style; it's both educational and humorous, which keeps me (and I'm sure many others) engaged and learning. Thank you for your desire to make a difference in the world. You are.

One final thought (I'm not sure if I found this quote on your site or elsewhere): Thomas Edison said, "The physician of the future will give no medication, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease." We can only hope.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01892099113882730430noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4833628955058077617.post-31382125661216626332014-09-27T10:25:43.153-04:002014-09-27T10:25:43.153-04:00Amy, thank you for sharing such a moving personal ...Amy, thank you for sharing such a moving personal story. I am so sorry for your loss. Sadly, as you know, your mother is one of many who have been victimize at the hands of an ignorant and lazy culture. I am inspired by your optimism and fortitude in working so hard to inform and educate and turn the ignorance around (the laziness is another story!). Good luck with your practice and please give me a call or email sometime. I found particular value in your compassionate yet cautionary story of an "anonymous fat lady".

You seem really well-positioned to serve people like your mom and dad. I see how passivity and resignation can make some long-suffering people hard to reach, but once you can generate some word of mouth from people who transform their own lives, I think you'll be flooded with patients.Marc Rouleauhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01988211651936994568noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4833628955058077617.post-66843674496356222202014-09-27T09:09:02.529-04:002014-09-27T09:09:02.529-04:00Thanks so much. Please don't live with any regret of not being able to help her with health issues. What you are endeavouring to do now will help many people in the future. Very best wishes for the journey ahead. Keep writing these posts - love your writing style and your pearls of wisdom!
